Free At Last

This morning we took our little princess to a nearby baseball field to try free ranging.  We thought it may be a good idea to experiment with letting her off leash to play fetch with a tennis ball.  This was our very first time doing this outside of the yard, so we knew that it wasn't going to go perfectly or anything.  She lasted about 10 minutes playing with us before she caught the scent of something more fun and went bounding into the woods.  She loves loves Loves running off leash, it's probably her favorite thing in the world.  Luckily, she came right back, but after that we decided it was enough for the first time and also we didn't want her to think that was Ok to just run away so we slapped the leash back on.  She did pretty well, and got a little exercise chasing the ball but we can't have her running loose into the woods or people's yards.  I'm not sure how we can train her to ignore her natural instincts and chase after other animals or scents.  This is probably where the remote trainer either works beautifully or fails miserably.
